Climate

Being one of the most Southern cities in Spain, winters are pleasant in Cádiz, while Summer months receive the cooling breezes from the Atlantic. The average low during the coldest month of January is only 9°C/48°F. The average high during the hottest month of August is 27C/82°F. The city enjoys over 3000 sunshine hours, which means there are ample opportunities to enjoy the beach season in the summer and make the most of Central Europe’s summer activities under the pleasant winter sun.

Demographics

Cádiz is a town with 110,000 inhabitants, with a sizeable ex-pat population. Here you will find a melting pot of European ex-pats including French, Dutch, Irish, English, and Germans.

Beaches

The city offers a variety of unique beaches including the Playa La Caleta located between two castles, the golden sands of SANTA MARÍA DEL MAR beach, and the popular La Victoria, El Chato, and La Cortadura beaches.

Lifestyle

Cádiz is a beautiful, well-kept city with a strong outdoor culture. It boasts numerous historic and scenic landmarks, particularly in the plazas of the old town bordered by the city walls. They include the unusual Cathedral of Cádiz that boasts of various architectural styles, a 1st century BC Roman theatre, which is the world's second-largest Roman theatre in the world, an 18th-century watchtower, among many more.

Cádiz and the areas nearby have a good selection of private schools such as Teaching Center San Ignacio, Centro Docente Privado Extranjero, David Glasgow Farragut Elementary And High Schools, Sage College, El Altillo International School, and The English Center, to name a few.

Leisure Amenities

Cadiz has four high performance sailing centres, namely Viento de Levante, Puerto América, Elcano, and Real Club Náutico.

The Villanueva Golf & Croquet and Vista Hermosa Club De Golf courses are both within a 30 minutes drive from town. There are also nearby courses in Sancti Petri (La Estancia, Sancti Petri, Vincci Costa), Jerez, and Rota.

Medical Facilities

Cadiz is home to some of the most prestigious private hospitals and medical facilities in the province, including the Hospitales Pascual and Hospital Doctor López Cano. There are also many medical facilities in nearby Jerez de la Frontera, Puerto de Santa maria, and Chiclana de la Frontera.

Shopping

Isi Moda is the place for luxury shopping with brands such as Armani, Hackett and more. Joyería Gordillo offers a high-couture selection of jewels, watches, and accessories.

The commercial streets of Calle Ancha, Novena, and Columela in the old town is where high-street brands such as Desigual, Mango, and Zara are located. While nearby Jerez centre also offers a wealth of shopping opportunities, all while enjoying a captivating and charming stroll through the historical centre.

Restaurants

Being right on the Atlantic, Cádiz is a superb seafood destination with an excellent selection of tapas bars. Cádiz is also a Michelin Star haven with eateries such as Restaurante El Faro de Cadiz, Aponiente, Mantúa, LÚ Cocina y Alma, Alevante, Aponiente, Código de Barra, Contraseña, La Taberna del Chef del Mar, Sonámbulo, Almanaque, La Curiosidad de Mauro Barreiro, and Ciclo. Not to mention the delicious offerings of the nearby Chiclana, Jerez, Puerto Real, and San Fernando.
