Moraira
Climate
Moraira's climate is considered one of the healthiest in the world by the World Health Organization. The town has a Mediterranean climate and boasts 300 days of sunshine annually.
The surrounding mountains protect the village from climatic extremes and keep away strong winds, and its sublime coastal location means refreshing sea breezes even on sultry days.
During winters, the temperature very seldom goes below 5°C/42°F. The annual average low and high temperature typically varies from 8°C/48°F to 28°C/82°F.
Demographics
Moraira's total inhabitants are estimated at around 10,000, though during summer it rises to around 36,000. A large proportion of ex-pats live in this town, especially British, Dutch, German, followed by French, Swiss, and Argentinians.
Economy
Traditionally, Moraira's economic root was based on fishing. However, now the economy is built around its spectacular marina, the many restaurants and lounges, its luxury lifestyle offerings, a variety of commercial and retail offerings for its residents, and its vibrant modern residential construction.
Beaches
Moraira has four sandy beaches, namely Cala L'Andragó, Platja de l'Ampolla, Playa Portet, and Playa Moraira, which are popular with families. The town has numerous inlets and rocky coves that are a favourite with scuba divers and snorkellers.
Educational Institutes
Some of the region's best private educational institutes, including schools and colleges, are near Moraira. They include the Lady Elizabeth School and Xabia International College, both of which are less than 20 minutes away by car.
Leisure Amenities
Moraira has a yacht club, Club Náutico, with 620 berths, and an association club, which comprises shops and restaurants. During summer, the yacht club hosts regattas and sailing courses and the marina hosts a variety of international events.
The town is within half-hour drivable distance to golf courses such as Club de Golf Ifach, Altea Golf, Benidorm Golf, La Sella Golf, and driving range, and Club de Golf Jávea and practice area.
Medical Facilities
One is not far away from private medical hospitals in Moraira, as the Hospital HLA San Carlos and Policlínica Glorieta Denia can be accessed quickly.
Shopping
To access a wide selection of well-known brands under one big roof, head to the Portal de la Marina shopping, a 15-minute drive away by car. From Massimo Dutti to Botticelli, and Sietepecados to Deichmann Calzados, the options are many. Another relatively close shopping mall is the Benidorm Centro Commercial.
Restaurants
Enjoy the haute cuisine in the region with a visit to one of the many Michelin Star Restaurants located near Moraira, (in Calpe and Denia) which include Sand, Audrey's, Komfort, Beat, and Casa del Maco, among others. All of them can be reached within 15 minutes by car.
